How to not dress like a bum this fall....

1. Buy a dress.

Yes, its that easy.

Most of the time we when think of winter we think of leggings, sweaters, puffy coats and wellies....I hope to god you don't fall into this category this year. Luckily for you, designers have fused technology with fashion to create great winter dresses that wont make you feel like an asshole for walking around outside without real pants. You just need to follow a few of tips and you wont regret leaving the house in heels instead of Hunters.

1. Fabric, Fabric, Fabric.....the worst thing to feel when your outside in winter is, well, the cold. Pick a fabric that keeps you warm and keeps you comfortable. Designers have come up with stretch wool, stretch leather, wool crepe, ponti, scuba, and a slew of blends for you to lay your hands on. Just stay away from those lightweight summer cottons, they're not made for cold weather.

2. Invest in a pair of cashmere or wool tights.....Don't be a dummy. If you like in New York, like I do, if you don't have a pair of these you're liable to get frost bite on your legs, somedays within 10 minutes of going outside! With a pair of these babies you wont need to worry, best of all they don't have to be expensive. Macys, Barneys, and Saks all have them. They're easy to find and if you treat them well, you only need one pair all season.

3. Think of the dress as a layering piece. Add sweaters, jackets, tees, belts whatever.....It doesn't have to be just a dress.

And lastly....4. Find some closed-toed boots you aren't afraid to get dirty in. Don't do the sky high platforms in the snow if you can barely walk in them during the summer (and definitely don't buy boots that will melt if they come in contact with any water source). Be smart, there are so many boots out there, you'll find one to fit your lifestyle (and wardrobe needs).

These are my favorite 3 choices for winter dresses, pick one and make it your own.

Luke, I am your father: Tim Coppens SS13

I love when new designers suceed.  Especially when I love the collection. This being the third season it should be interesting to see what happens next.  According to Fader when asked if he would ever design womenswear he replied that he's done it before and can do it again.

1.  The harness trend moves to menswear in the most unexpected way.  We aren't rock climbing, this is a what we call a thigh harness.  Coupled with the zip up side pouch you don't need back pockets or a fanny pack.

2.  The collection makes me feel like I'm gym class heading to the locker room again.  Only this time its okay to look.

TUMBLR NEW NEWS: Italian Vogue's September Issue

After discovering this image, via suicideblonde, I researched to see if this photo was really about what it was tagged: "Milla Jovovich photographed by Peter Lindbergh for Italian Vogue artwork by Jenny Holzer."

I came to find a few things:

1.  I am getting my news from the 207th hand of repost after repost.

2.  This information is coming from Tumblr.

3.  This issue came out September of this year and is infact current.

That said, I was intrigued by the campaign and wondered if it is supposed to look cheezy on purpose.  Have those Italians played another trick on me?

 Is this clever?

DOES MONEY CREATE TASTE? I'm so confused!

Have you forgotten all about Diesel's "Stupid" campaign?   Well, it wasn't exactly brilliant, but I will say that I remember it.  I remember talking shit about it with my friends.  I wondered if the Italians behind it had gone crazy or were they just marketing for that younger-than-me generation?

Did it matter if the ads made sense or did it only matter that people talk about them?

Thought provoking?  No.  Stupid? Yes.  Effective? Maybe.

Some questions we will never have the answers to.  What do you think?
